(2009/04/05) The new Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 that recently became law on February 10, 2009 is a nightmare for our entire industry. It outlaws the sale, and distribution of children’s toys containing even minute limits the amount of lead and 6 hazardous plastic softeners (phthalates) This means redemption prizes and merchandise dispensing machine prizes. Not only was this one of several laws rushed through Congress and signed into law, even worse is that this law is ‘retro-active!’…

4. ‘Redemption Prize Interactive Marketing’ (#004)

(2009/04/05) In today’s competitive market, just having a great looking and well-stocked redemption prize center isn’t enough. Knowing the most enticing way to display the prizes is critical to increasing the overall game revenues and increasing the frequency of visitation. TRR was extremely excited to hear about an interactive approach to sales that was taken at the recently opened Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor Waterpark in West Berlin, NJ. This proactive approach is now being adopted for the floor staff as they interact with the game-playing customers. (Alpha-Omega Amusements is the game vendor)….

6. ‘Top Redemption Prizes & Top Merchandise Dispensing Prizes’ (#006)

(2009/04/05) Each month TRR will go through dozens of different types of locations across the U.S. and review the debit card system ‘Redeemed Prize Reports.’ These important reports show how many of each individual prize was redeemed. TRR then breaks down the prizes into low, medium, and high-ticket point ranges and compiles the top prizes. For the merchandise dispensing machines, each crane and other merchandise machine is reviewed to determine which machines (and which bays) grossed the most dollars and kept within the win percentage guidelines of 20%-25%. TRR then reviews the prizes that are in the qualifying machines/bays…

(2009/04/05) Everyone always is looking for ways to save money. Manufacturers and Suppliers are also looking for ways to save on shipping so they can pass the savings along to their customers. Sometimes what is needed is an entity to act as a facilitator and perhaps TRR can be the facilitator…
